In China, regulation on transport of dangerous goods mainly features three legislative levels -  National Laws/Administrative Regulations, Departmental rules and Technical Standards. The 2011 issued State Council Decree 591 regulates the management of dangerous chemicals throughout the entire supply chain and quite some new changes involve the domestic transport of dangerous goods; four departmental rules respectively identify their requirements for the railway, road, waterway and civil air transport of dangerous goods; among all the current technical standards for transport of dangerous goods, industry is advised to pay particular attention to GB 6944 and GB 12268 for the two are now closely aligned with international rules in terms of the classification and unified UN number of dangerous goods.
