The year 2021 witnessed many significant regulatory updates in the Asia-Pacific region. In China, several significant food standards were released, such as the new GB standard for infant formula milk powder. It is noteworthy that GACC released two important regulations regarding imported food as well. South Korea has many critical regulatory revisions in 2021, regarding labeling requirements, food raw material inventory and the HACCP accreditation for overseas Kimchi factories. Japan also adopted new food additives and labeling requirements in the past year.

Korea Sustains Positive Growth in Infant Formula Exportation to China

1. From 2009 to 2013, the value of South Korean infant formula exports to China increased 12 fold from 4.7 million to 56.4 million USD. 2. Despite China’s tough new dairy regulations, from 1 May 2014, the number of infant formula brands exported from Korea to China ranks forth on the list only after those dairy export giants New Zealand, Holland and Australia, according to AQSIQ statistics.
