India released rectifiable labeling information for imported food. EU adopted revamped rules to reduce, reuse and recycle packaging. UK proposed MRLs for pencycuron in food. US proposed to further eliminate the use of brominated vegetable oils in food. Canada to update permitted nutrient content statements and claims. Australia and New Zealand changed the conditions for making the voluntary “No Added Sugar” claims.

Taiwan to Revise Contaminants and Toxins in Food
Nov 17, 2023
On November 13, 2023, Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) released Draft Sanitation Standard for Contaminants and Toxins in Food, involving food categories such as young child formula, infant drinks, offal of poultry and livestock, nut, seeds, and chocolate. The amended contents are proposed to take effect from July 1, 2024. Any feedback can be submitted within 60 days from November 13, 2023.

Taiwan Revises Pesticide Residue Limits in Foods and Animal products

In November 10, 2023, Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) announced the amendment to Standards for Pesticide Residue Limits in Foods and Standards for Pesticide Residue Limits in Animal Products. The changes mainly include the addition and revision of pesticide residue limits, with immediate effect.

Taiwan to Revise Regulations for Application of Health Food Registration

Taiwan Amends Food Additive Standards

On August 10, 2023, Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) revises Standards for Specification, Scope, Application and Limitation of Food Additives. Key changes include adding new approved scope of and application standards for Activated Acid Clay, revising additives’ names, and updating the specifications of several additives. These amendments will come into effect on January 1, 2024.
