Food Contact Material Regulations in ASEAN Countries

On April 12, 2021, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) issued ASEAN General Guideline on Food Contact Materials and ASEAN Guidelines for Good Manufacturing Practice for Food Contact Materials. These guidelines provide vital references for ASEAN countries in regulating FCMs. Some ASEAN countries, including Thailand and Indonesia, have made strides in improving their FCM regulations and monitoring. This article introduces the supervision mechanisms for FCMs in 6 ASEAN countries: Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines.

Singapore Issues the Revision to Food Regulations 2023, Involving the Maximum Residue Limits for Veterinary Drugs

On April 18, 2023, Singapore Food Agency (SFA) published a circular on Food (Amendment) Regulations 2023. The revision mainly involves provisions of maximum residue limits (MRLs) for residues of veterinary drugs, with the addition of the new Eighteenth Schedule. This amendment came into effect on April 28, 2023.
