Cross border ecommerce had enjoyed many advantages during its fast development in China, including policy support, price advantages, convenient shopping experience, etc. According to data from the Ministry of Commerce, the total volume of online retail trade in 2016 reached RMB 5,160 billion, with a year-on-year growth rate of 26.2%.

Confirmation of China Infant Formula CBEC Trade Requirements

The Chinese government has placed great emphasis on ensuring the safety of infant formula due to the frequent occurrence of food safety issues and poor market conditions. The “Administrative Measures for Registration of Infant and Young Children Milk Powder Formula Recipes” will be put into practice from Oct. 1, 2016 and is designed to raise the market entry threshold for infant formula, eliminate inferior brands with low product quality and increase the confidence of consumers in China’s infant formula food safety status.

Updates on China’s New CBEC Regulations

Crossboarder ecommerce trade will be subject to the same regulations and product standard requirements as normal trade in the near future. For food traded through CBEC this means that China’s food safety law and subordinate horizontal standards and vertical product standards must be followed.
