China Releases New Measures for the Safety Administration of Imported and Exported Foods

Food importers should bear more responsibility of imported food safety, for example, they need to set up an inspection mechanism to regulate the overseas food exporters and manufacturers so as to ensure their product exported are compliant with Chinese food regulations.
Chinese label must be directly printed on the minimum sales packaging of imported health food and food for special dietary uses, and affixing is not allowed.
Risk monitoring is the emphasis of imported food supervision and GAC will formulate the annual risk monitoring plan to continuously collect data related to foodborne diseases, food contamination and other adverse factors caused by imported & exported food.
On April 13 2021, China GAC issued the latest version of “Measures for the Safety Administration of Imported and Exported Foods”1, which will take effect on January 1, 2022. (Check ChemLinked Regulatory Database for history versions and E-translation.)
