Taiwan Revises Regulations Governing Traceability of Foods and Relevant Products

Taiwan will attempt to improve its traceability system by requiring more information to be recorded throughout the supply chain, product lifecycle and product chain of custody during the circulation of foods and food related products.

On Oct. 3, 2018, Taiwan FDA announced the revision of Regulations Governing Traceability of Foods and Relevant Products which will align with an earlier amendment to Act Governing Food Safety and Sanitation. The major goal is the development of an optimized food safety and traceability system covering production, manufacturing, supply and distribution. Except for certain provisions that will come into effect on a stipulated date, the revised edition became effective on the day of its publication.

In addition to some insignificant changes to terminological and documentation requirements, the amendments stipulate the generation of more comprehensive supply chain data and information recording throughout a products lifecycle.
