This standard specifies the permitted health and nutrition claims and the conditions for their use in the labeling or advertising of foods delivered to the final consumer. It is intended to supplement general guidelines on claims. The standard does not apply to claims for foods for particular nutritional or special medical uses, such as "suitable for diabetics" or "gluten-free", or other claims targeting consumers with specific disorders. Nutrition and health claims are not permitted for foods for infants and young children unless they comply with the specific requirements for those products.
