This standard specifies the general principles to be followed for the addition of essential nutrients to foods. It does not apply to vitamin and mineral food supplements, and is without prejudice to the provisions in Codex Alimentarius standards and guidelines for foods for special dietary uses. These principles apply to both mandatory and voluntary addition of essential nutrients.
