This Gulf standard is concerned with the declaration of food allergens on the labels of prepackaged foods and the methods of their presentation. This standard applies to all prepackaged food products, with some exceptions, such as food products whose name expresses the allergenic food ingredient (e.g., milk, soy, sesame); fresh vegetables and fruits; certain components or substances extracted from an allergen that do not cause an allergic reaction (e.g., glucose syrup made from wheat); and allergenic ingredients that have been further processed to be unlikely to cause an allergic reaction (e.g., fully refined soybean oil).
