Background

Food packaging and labeling continue to be critical focal points for global food industry stakeholders, with 2024 marking a year of significant regulatory evolution across multiple regions.

In Asia Pacific, China opened GB 7718 General Standard for the Labeling of Prepackaged Foods for public feedback twice this year, and unveiled the exposure draft of Administrative Measures for Supervision of Food Labeling. South Korea modified Food Labeling Standards, introducing the mandatory labeling of reduced product contents, sweetener labeling and the labeling method of alcohol calorie. Japan updated its positive list of food contact materials, implementing changes effective immediately upon promulgation. Thailand embarked on a comprehensive regulatory refresh, updating regulations about prepackaged food labeling, nutrition label, and health claims. Australia and New Zealand proposed to make health star rating system mandatory, signaling a shift towards more transparent nutritional communication. Other markets in the region-including Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, and the Philippines-have also undergone substantial regulatory transformations.

In EU, the supervision over food contact materials was strengthened. Canada lowered the threshold for exemptions from FOP labeling requirements for certain dairy products.

This webinar represents an unparalleled opportunity to navigate the complex global packaging and labeling regulatory updates. Whether you're a compliance professional, regulatory affairs specialist, or industry stakeholder, it will help you build the knowledge needed to adapt to these critical changes.
