Japan Updates the Positive List of FCM

Referring to the public comments and new substance registration applications received prior to Oct. 30, 2020, on Aug. 18, 2021 MHLW announced to revise the specifications of 425 substances and add 1161 substance into the food contact material positive list after conducting relevant safety reviews. Details are as follows:

Japan's FCM positive list system was implemented on June 1, 2020, with a five-year transition period. The list is dynamically updated, and the time and method for the next update is determined by MHLW.
