Malaysia Gazettes Food (Amendment) (No.2) Regulations 2026

Malaysia updated the conditions for “Free” trans fatty acids claims, tightening the qualifying thresholds for edible fats and oils versus other foods. The amendment also introduces new nutrient function claims for potassium and tocotrienol rich fraction, while revising the Sixteenth Schedule with additional and updated pesticide MRLs for a range of foods.

On June 12, 2026, the Malaysian Federal Government gazetted the P.U. (A) 221/2026 Food (Amendment) (No.2) Regulations 2026. This amendment introduces updates to the conditions for trans fatty acids claims, nutrient function claims, and maximum residue limits (MRLs) for certain pesticides in foods. The regulations will officially come into operation on December 16, 2026.
