Indonesia Overhauls Nutrition Labeling Regulation with Mandatory Nutri-Level Labeling

Indonesia’s BPOM has introduced a mandatory front-of-pack “nutri-level” grading system for applicable beverages, replacing the previous framework with a consolidated nutrition-labeling regime. The regulation also tightens nutrition label rules by updating tolerance limits, raising the threshold for vitamin and mineral declarations, and setting clearer serving-size, exemption, and maximum nutrient-cap requirements.

On June 17, 2026, the Indonesian food and drug authority (BPOM) enacted BPOM Regulation No. 10 of 2026 on Nutritional Value Information on Processed Food Labels. This new regulation consolidates and revokes previous regulations, including the primary regulation BPOM No. 26 of 2021 and BPOM No. 16 of 2020.

The most significant update is the introduction of a mandatory front-of-pack (FoP) "nutri-level" grading system for beverages, aimed at helping consumers make healthier choices. Food business operators are given a 24-month transition period to comply with the new requirements.
