CFDA is seeking public comments on the draft “Standard for the Management of Packaging and Labeling of Fresh Food in Supermarket” before 25 Dec 2015. The Standard is designed to help combat common illegal activities such as tampering with the production date/expiration date of fresh food sold in supermarkets.
The Standard would apply to a wide range of fresh foods including poultry, livestock products, vegetables, fruit and aquatic products. Packaging and labeling of fresh fruits sold in a supermarket shall be conducted in accordance with this Standard which will also serve as the basic rules for local FDAs conducting supervision and inspection of traders.
