Indonesia Releases New Technical Guidelines for MSE Halal Certification via Self-Declaration

The new regulation explains a "self-declaration" pathway that makes obtaining a halal certificate significantly easier, faster, and cheaper for micro and small enterprises (MSEs).

In July 2025, Indonesia's Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH) issued Decision of the Head of BPJPH No. 146 of 2025, which aims to explain the requirements, standards, and procedures that micro and small enterprises (MSEs) must meet when applying for halal certification via a self-declaration mechanism. The new guidelines apply to MSEs in the food and beverage sector, Halal Product Process Assistants, and their associated institutions, making it more accessible for businesses to comply with the country's mandatory halal requirements.
