On 10th of July, Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare released the food provision 0710 number 14: “Guidebook for the safety of Food utensils and containers”. This guidebook aims at the implementation of a positive list system for food utensils and containers.
It is mainly directed at companies producing, importing or selling ware, packaging and food contact materials made from synthetic resins. Putting in practice this guidebook, the Japanese authorities wish to enact the rules set by “food hygiene law” to ensure the safety of food utensils and containers, adding provisions on industrial production management, import and sales. It also sets rules on basic company information and promotes their independent management.
The main contents of the guidebook are 1) personnel, facilities and equipment management 2)Safe product design and quality assurance 3)Supply Chain management4)Health Hazard Management and others.
