Macau Finalizes the Maximum Residue Level of Pesticides in Food

This standard specifies the MRL and EMRL of pesticides in food, and lists the pesticides which are exempted from maximum residue limits in Macau SAR.

On Apr. 17, 2020, Executive Council of Macao SAR finalized the draft of “Maximum Residue Level of Pesticides in Food”, which will come to effect since the second day of the promulgation. This standard stipulates the maximum residue limits (MRL) and extraneous maximum residue limits (EMRL) of pesticides in food, and lists pesticides exempted from MRL requirements, such as acetophenone, citronellol and fumaric acid.

Codex standard and national food safety standard are the major regulatory references for this regulation. Additionally, the competent authority also monitors the pesticide residue levels in Macau and took the local condition into account while formulating the standard.
