Shanghai Pilots Health Warning Labels for Alcoholic Beverages

Shanghai has issued trial guidelines standardizing the design, content, and placement of health warning labels for all alcoholic beverages (ABV > 0.5% vol) sold both online and offline in the city, to strengthen public health awareness.

In January 2026, the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission issued the Guidelines for the Production Style and Setting of Health Warning Labels for Alcoholic Beverages (Trial). The guidelines establish standardized requirements for the design, content, and placement of health warning labels for alcoholic beverages sold both online and offline in Shanghai. The policy is currently under trial implementation and is being gradually promoted to strengthen public health awareness.
