Taiwan Amends Calcium Specifications in Food Additive Standards

On 24 Jun 2015, TFDA released an amendment to Standards for Specification, Scope, Application and Limitation of Food Additives. Specifications for some calcium compounds, which are laid down in Appendix 2 of the Standards, have been revised. Three additives used as nutritional fortification substances have had specific alterations made to their usage as outlined below:  

Food Additive Calcium Phosphate, Dibasic Calcium Phosphate, Tribasic Calcium Sulfate
Alias INS No. 341(ii); Dibasic calcium phosphate; dicalcium phosphate INS No. 341(iii); Tricalcium phosphate; precipitated calcium phosphate INS No. 516
Content 98.0%-102.0% after being dried no less than 90% by Ca3(PO4)2 after being burnt no less than 99.0% after being dried
Function Quality improver, brewing agent, food manafacturing agent;nutritional fortification substance Quality improver, brewing agent, food manafacturing agent;nutritional fortification substance Quality improver, brewing agent, food manafacturing agent;nutritional fortification substance
