Taiwan Baby Formula Advertising Regulations

On 12 Sep, Taiwan FDA announced it will revise the “Administrative Measures on Advertising and Promotion of Infant Formula” to reinforce regulations over the marketing activities of this kind of product.

Under the revised regulation, companies will not be allowed to advertise their infant formula anywhere except in academic medical periodicals and data specification exclusively used by medical staff. In addition, the following methods will be banned for promotion of baby formula:

  1. Offering products to consumers as samples and gifts;

  2. Hosting special promotion show;

  3. Issuing coupons;

  4. Selling open cans with reduced prices;

  5. Adopting tie-in sales
