On January 5, 2024, Thai Food and Drug Administration unveiled the Ministry of Public Health Notification (No. 448) BE 2566 (2023) Re: Food supplement (No.5), which revised the nutrients levels in dietary supplements products. This notification will come into effect on July 2, 2024, with a three-year grace period given to stakeholders.
To align with the changes of Thai reference daily intakes (Thai RDIs) in MOPH Notification regarding nutrition labeling, the amendment clarifies that the vitamins and mineral content in dietary supplements products should not be less than 15% of Thai RDIs specified in MOPH No. 445. As for the maximum level, an Annex named Type of Vitamins and Minerals with Maximum Level Present in Food Supplements is newly drafted for reference.
The following table compares the differences of maximum nutrient levels (partial) between the old and new regulations.
Vitamins and Minerals | MOPH Notification No. 293 (old) | MOPH Notification No. 448 (new) |
Vitamin B1 | 1.5 mg | 100 mg |
