ASEAN has virtually eliminated import tariffs on almost all products traded within the region through the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement (ATIGA), as well as with its key trading partners (i.e. Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea and New Zealand) through ASEAN Plus One FTAs and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Agreement.
FTAs allow businesses to optimize their production process by outsourcing and offshoring activities at a competitive cost and quality. Companies can source materials from ASEAN and its partners at zero tariffs, manufacture products within ASEAN, and export them without tariffs, which reduces costs and improves competitiveness. Besides, ASEAN FTAs are legally binding, ensuring market access commitments are upheld and providing certainty, and FTAs also simplify customs procedures, enhancing trade facilitation.
In this webinar, Ms. Maes Alconcel, an independent international trade expert, will share her insights on how to make food exports more competitive & resilient in Asia Pacific through FTAs.
