23 Russian dairy producers were recently granted access to China's market, according to news [1] released by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation on Apr 26th.
Along with the 10 enterprises previously approved on December 29, 2018, the number of authorized Russian dairy suppliers now totals to 33 enterprises. In addition to milk, Russia will also export cream, butter, condensed milk, cheese, whey protein concentrate (details included in GAC list: Overseas Manufacturers-Dairy Products approved by China (except Infant Formula) [2]. According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, the first shipments are expected to enter China in Q3, 2019.
First mover: KOMOS Group & Li Hua Economic and CO. Ltd.
In November 2018 China and Russia signed a bilateral trade agreement including protocols on frozen meat and dairy products [3]. Li Hua Economic and Co. Ltd. (China) signed a two-year contract with KOMOS Group (Russia) on March 22, 2019, becoming the first major contract inked under the new agreement. According to a report made by the People's Government of Suifenhe [4], Li Hua plans to import 500 tons of Russian dairy products every month and will increase the import volume to 1000 tons after two years.
