AQSIQ has officially recognized “Bordeaux” as a geographical indication (GI) in China. The application for the geographical indication protection which was submitted last year has been granted approval by AQSIQ and has been officially recognized since the 19th of Jun 2015.
The GI protection is expected to reduce the excessive volume of fake Bordeaux wines circulating in China’s market. So far in China, Cognac, Champagne and Napa Valley have also been listed under the GI protection system.
