Chongqing was recently approved to open a port for imported fruit and meat, which will become the first of its kind off in China’s western region once opened.
The designated ports will be located within the Chongqing Bonded Port Area, covering an area of 6194.6 square meters. To retain the freshness of fruits and meats as well as guarantee food safety, local CIQ and the bonded area will collaborate for the construction of cold storage with advanced facilities.
At present imported fruits and meats supplied for China’s inland regions are distributed from costal ports, a method characterized by high logistic costs which also negatively affects the freshness of products.
