As revealed by a notice1 released on August 17, 2021, China’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MoARA) appended two ingredients to Feed Raw Material Catalogue and Feed Additive Catalogue respectively. Moreover, the application scope of Coenzyme Q10 residue was expanded as well.
1. Revision of the Feed Raw Material Catalogue
Palm fatty acid powder was newly approved as feed raw material. When applying this new substance into feed, it is mandatory to label following items: acid value, peroxide value, iodine value, total fatty acid and palmitic acid.
The application scope of Coenzyme Q10 residue was expanded from “livestock and poultry feed” to “livestock, poultry and aquaculture feed”.
2. Revision of the Feed Additive Catalogue
Caramel colour (class I-plain and class III-ammonia process) can now be used in pet food as a colorant. The quality standard of this substance should follow GB 1886.64 National Food Safety Standard Food Additive Caramel Color provisionally.
