China NHC Approve 2 New Food Raw Materials

According to NHC’s administrative system, black chokeberry and Nostoc Sphaeroides were granted new food raw materials registration approval recently (No.10 NHC announcement).

  1. It is not eligible for use in products targeted at infants and young children, pregnant women, and breast feeding women. The unsuitable group should be indicated on the label and instructions.

  2. Food safety indicators shall follow requirements in China’s GB standard for fruit

Fruit and fruit extract of black chokeberry have purported medicinal properties and have been used traditionally in folk medicines to treat vascular diseases. Extracts and products containing this ingredient have been widely utilized in the European and American functional food sector and it is expected to gain greater traction in China going forward.

  2. Hygienic indicators shall follow national food safety standards for edible algae.
