China CFSA Consults on 1 New Food Raw Material

Nostoc sphaeroides, a kind of algae rich in amino acids and vitamins, is currently undergoing public consultation in consideration of its eligibility as a new food raw material in China.

On May 25, 2018, China CFSA opened a new food raw material named “Nostoc sphaeroides (Nostoc commune)” to public feedback. Any comments should be sent to authorities prior to June 25, 2018.

Nostoc sphaeroides is a kind of algae rich in amino acids and vitamins. The draft stated that this new raw material cannot be used in foods for infants and young children, pregnant or lactating women. Here are some details of nostoc sphaeroides' proposed usage:
