On October 20, 2017, 10 national departments, including AQSIQ and NHFPC, jointly released Guidance on Standardization Work of Traceability for Important Products, which will serve as the policy basis for the promotion of traceability standardization in China.
The Guidance proposes that a traceability standard system for important products with wide coverage, highlighted emphasis and reasonable structure shall be established by 2020. Here the important products refer to edible agricultural products, food, drug, agricultural capital goods, special equipment, hazardous articles and rare earth metals. The document also clarified following 6 major tasks:
Facilitate basic technical research on traceability standardization for important products
Have an overall plan to realize a reasonable traceability standard system for important products
Develop basic common standards for important product traceability
Explore the experience gained from traceability pilot projects.
Popularize the application of important products traceability system
Feedback and evaluation of implementation
