China Seeking Public Comments on Modification of General Beverage Standard

On 8 Jan 2014, in an effort to promote water conservation all over the country, the Standardization Administration of the People's Republic of China (SAC) has made a proposal to add a mandatory term in National Standard GB 10789-2007 General Standard for Beverage regarding water saving labels on bottled water.

Based on the suggestions from the SAC, the new term intended is as follow:

“6.3.3 Requirements of consumer identifiers for bottled water

Recognizable words, figures, symbols, numbers for consumers or coating and space for marking shall be displayed on the package of bottled water by means of printing, connection, pasting or else.”

Public comments will be accepted until 9 Feb 2014. Instructions for submitting comments are provided on the notice as well.
