FSSAI Proposes Mandatory Standard Drink Labelling and Other Amendments to Alcoholic Beverage Regulations

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has released a draft notification proposing amendments to the Food Safety and Standards (Alcoholic Beverages) Regulations, 2018, including mandatory standard drink labelling on alcoholic beverages, a defined sugar tolerance for Brut sparkling wine, and a simplified definition for wine-based beverages.

Recently, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued a draft notification proposing several amendments to the Food Safety and Standards (Alcoholic Beverages) Regulations, 2018. The draft aims to improve consumer information and refine existing product standards. Among the proposed changes, the most notable is the introduction of mandatory "standard drink" declarations on labels.
