India to Revise Imported Food Safety Standard Law

On the 2nd of August 2017, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) released the announcement F.No.REG/11/25/Import amendment/FSSAI-2017 about the revision of chapter 2,3 and 7 of Food Safety and Standards Regulations. Their main issue is importer registration, import export code requirements, expiration date of imported foodstuff and risk factors. At the moment of custom clearance, the expiration date of imported food shouldn’t be less than 60% of shelf life or less than three months remaining.
