Indonesia Releases New Draft Amendment on the Importation of Food and Health Supplements
Jun 15, 2026

Indonesia’s draft amendment would move health supplements from the SKI Post Border mechanism to SKI Border, requiring BPOM import information approval before customs release.
The draft also tightens and clarifies import compliance rules for processed food and health supplements, including revised shelf-life thresholds, stricter CoA/lab testing requirements, customs HS code precedence, and a cap on sample imports for processed food.
On June 5, 2026, the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM) announced the Draft for the Second Amendment to BPOM Regulation No. 27 of 2022 on the Supervision of the Importation of Drugs and Food into the Indonesian Territory. This draft aims to update the regulatory framework for importing commodities, with significant implications for the processed food and health supplement sectors. Industry stakeholders can submit their feedback on these proposed changes through BPOM's official public consultation portal until June 19, 2026.
