It is reported by Indonesia government recently that all foods, drugs and cosmetics sold in Indonesia must obtain halal certificate before Oct. 2019. This measure is named as “Halal Product Guarantee” by the competent authority and is designed to make Indonesian products more competitive in international markets, especially for Muslim consumers.

However, the Indonesian Food and Beverage Association considers it a challenging task for the industry to finish all the certifications before the deadline, as there are only 33 months remaining for tens of thousands of products to obtain the halal certificate.

The food categories of pork, wine, etc. will be exempted from the new regulation.
