Korea Included Hibiscus Flowers and Other Ingredients into the Directory of Permitted Food Raw Material

Hibiscus flowers and several other ingredients are newly listed as permitted food ingredients in Korea.

On June 30, 2017, Korean MFDS released an announcement detailing revisions to Standard and Specification of Food. There are 4 major changes compared to the previous version. 

1. Hibiscus flowers, ginger root, and green saury are added to directory of food raw materials. Besides, folium artemisia argyi stem is considered as a kind of restricted food ingredient.

2. The specification of carbon isotope ratio for honey has been modified from “-22.5~-15.0‰” to “more than -22.5‰”.

3. Newly established or newly revised pesticide and veterinary drug residue limitation standards.

4. Correct all supplementary articles of revised announcements, and wrong items.
