MOA Abolished 132 Standards of Pollution-free Agricultural Products

Since Jan this year, the Ministry of Agriculture has been reforming standards for pollution-free foods. On 6 June, the MOA released Announcement No.1963 to have 132 standards abolished, which affects various kinds of pollution-free agricultural products, including vegetables, meat, fish, dairy products, tea, fruit and so on. These standards will be rescinded as of 1 Jan 2014.

Pollution-free agricultural products are those unprocessed or primarily processed edible products, the production area, production procedure and quality of which meet requirements in relevant national standards and which obtain the certificate after accreditation and bear the pollution-free agricultural product mark, according to the Measures on the Administration of Pollution-free Agricultural Products. Food producers and individuals are encouraged to voluntarily apply for accreditation. The Agricultural Product Quality Safety Center under MOA is in charge of the work of certification of pollution-free agricultural product.
