South Korea Proposes New Labeling Requirements for Decaffeinated Coffee and Collaborative Alcoholic Beverages

Updating the labeling criteria for “decaffeinated” coffee to require caffeine content in coffee beans of no more than 0.1% on a dry basis. Requiring collaborative alcoholic beverages to display “Alcohol/Alcoholic Beverage” on the main display panel.

On November 6, 2025, the South Korea Ministry of Food and Drug Safety proposed partial amendments to the Food Labeling Standard, which introduces two significant changes: updated labeling criteria for "decaffeinated" coffee and strengthened labeling requirements for collaborative alcoholic beverages that use branding similar to non-alcoholic foods. Stakeholders may submit comments by January 6, 2026.
