Taiwan Proposes Revisions to Pesticide MRLs in Foods

On January 9, 2026, the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) released the draft amendment to Appendix 1 of Article 3 in the Standards for Pesticide Residue Limits in Foods. Comments on the proposed amendments can be submitted within 60 days of the release date.

Proposed amendments include:

1. Revising maximum residue limits (MRLs) for 38 pesticides in 174 crops

3. Others

  • To avoid ambiguity, the amendment specifies exclusions within broader crop categories. For example, since "edamame" has a specific MRL for clethodim, the corresponding MRL for the "Other Bean and Pea Vegetables" category will be revised to "other legume vegetables (excluding soybean)." 

  • The Chinese name for "Kale" will be corrected from "無頭甘藍" to "羽衣甘藍" to ensure accurate terminology.

  • The classification remarks for three pesticides, Cyclaniliprole, Fluazinam, and Flufenoxuron, will be updated for greater clarity.

  • The international common name for the pesticide Profenofos will be revised to align with international nomenclature.
