On May 8th, 2018, Taiwan food and drug administration issued the hygienic standard of contaminant and toxin, stipulating the concentration limits of heavy metal, mycotoxin, and other contaminants or toxins in food. Due to the extensive revision this time, implementation of the updated hygienic standard will subject to a grace period and enter into force on Jan. 1st, 2019.

On the same day, Taiwan FDA announced the proposed revision of 7 hygienic standards and proposed to abolish 12 related standards.
Regarding standard revision, all regulatory articles except microorganism requirements are removed, and those standards are entitled "microorganism hygienic standard" now. In addition, the "Hygienic Standard for Common Food" will add following parts:
Requirements of food grade water
Requirements of caffeine content in beverage
Requirements of pesticide residue in infant formula food.
