India to Regulate Novel Foods and New Food Ingredients

On Oct. 4, 2016, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) drafted the “Safety and Standards (Approval for Non-Specified Food and Food Ingredients) Regulations, 2016”, which will be open to public consultation for 60 days from the day of the announcement.

Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) is responsible for the management of food contact materials. Primary regulation is based on the Act Governing Food Safety and Sanitation and Sanitation Standard for Food Utensils, Containers and Packages. Currently, there are more than 8,700 manufacturers and traders of plastic products in Taiwan, nearly 500 of which are related to food utensils, containers and packages.

China Lifts Ban on US Beef
