The precautions, specifications, and daily intake amounts of nine functional ingredients are to be modified. A new health functional food type is introduced, namely long-acting product(지속성 제품). The manufacturing standards for aloe gel will be modified.

[Updated] South Korea Revises Health Functional Food Code

MFDS solicits public opinions on the amendments to the Health Functional Food Code. The proposed amendments include removing the limits for manufacturing proteins products, establishing test methods for Saw Palmetto Fruit Extract’s total fatty acid and phytosterol, and modifying the scientific name of Meshima mushroom.

South Korea Updates Health Functional Food Code, Enhancing Material Safety Standard

South Korea updated the Health Functional Food Code on February 17, 2023. The standards of seven notified functional ingredients are modified according to the regular re-examination results. The dietary supplements with Spirulina can no longer be claimed with "beneficial to skin health". The Coleus forskohlii extract (콜레우스포스콜리 추출물) is converted from an individually recognized ingredient to a notified functional ingredient. And the a new efficacy of “blood pressure control" is added to garlic.
