AQSIQ Publishes Data on Unqualified Imported Agriculture Products and New Fresh Fruit Varieties

AQSIQ published a summary table of unqualified imported agriculture products for December 2017 and updated the directory of fresh fruit types newly granted market access.

On the 18th of January, AQSIQ published a summary table of agriculture products unqualified for import in December 2017. The 31 rejected batches came from 10 different countries and territories. The most significant failure was 7 batches of longan fruit from Vietnam, exceeding 27 tons in weight, returned for excessive Sulfur Dioxide use. Other notable noncompliant agriculture products include Canadian oysters, Vietnamese sea snails, Myanmar mantis shrimps and a total of 27 Australian cows.

On the 12th of this month AQSIQ published the January update of the directory of fresh fruit types gaining inspection and quarantine access and their countries of origin. For all the fresh fruits coming from 44 different countries, Chinese name is followed by the Latin and English ones. This last update adds the following fruit varieties:

Both in the official document and in this chart, fruit varieties marked with * indicate that a protocol has been signed for them, but the admission process wasn’t completed yet resulting in unpermitted import.
