On September 18, 2017, China AQSIQ issued data on 57 batches of non-compliant agriculture products in August. These unapproved products mainly came from Australia, Ecuador, Netherlands, Kenya, America, Bangladesh, Thailand, Italy, Vietnam and Taiwan.
39 batches of fresh fruit were found non-compliant, which accounted for nearly 70% of the total, including pomelo, longan, dragon fruit, bright red rambutan and lemon. These unapproved fruit mainly came from Vietnam, Thailand and Taiwan (see the fresh fruits allowed to be imported to china and exporting countries in our F-list). Compliance failures were primarily attributable to exceeding maximum limits of sulfur dioxide and carbofuran. Infestation with pests was also a major reason for non-compliance.
In addition, 2 batches of green crab from Bangladesh were failed due to excessive furacilin, and 2 batches of epinephelus lanceolatus from Taiwan were non-compliant due to the use of chloramphenicol (veterinary drug which is forbidden to be used).
