China AQSIQ Reiterates That Imported Cod Liver Oil is a Health Food

Cod liver oil products require health food registration in China.

On Feb. 6th, 2018, China AQSIQ released a public letter about imported cod liver oil products, which states that cod liver oil is not common food in China according to the NHFPC reply letter in Apr. 14, 2014. Only registered cod liver oil products (as health food) can be imported.

Cod liver oil contains vitamins and definitely belongs to health food in China while fish oil contains only EPA and DHA with no vitamins. Fish oil products are usually manufactured according to the standard SC/T 3505-2006 Microcapsules of Fish oil.
