China Drafts Three New Standards for Food Contact Materials

Regarding food contact materials, three new standards were drafted, including:
- National Food Safety Standard for Food Contact Regenerated Cellulose Materials and Articles
- Food Contact Materials and Articles Determination of Migration Amount of 1,4-Dichlorobenzene
- Food Contact Materials and Articles Determination of 2-Methyl-1,3-butadiene and its Migration Amount

On April 17, 2026, the National Health Commission (NHC) released 37 draft national food safety standards for public consultation. The drafts cover a wide range of areas, including food products such as pasteurized milk, foods for special dietary uses, food additives, nutritional fortification substances, labeling and testing methods. Regarding food contact materials, three new standards were drafted, including:
