China GAC Details Prohibited and Restrictive Items for the 1st China International Import Expo

Foods proposed to be exhibited during the 1st China international import expo shall meet current regulatory requirements in China. Registration is required for overseas dairy manufacturers, and infant formula should be registered.

On June 14, 2018, China GAC detailed the exhibition prohibition list and restriction list for the upcoming 1st China International Import Expo. Foods imported from high risk areas of Japan, potentially impacted by the Fukushima nuclear leakage accident are not allowed and any animal/plant product from epidemic countries/regions are prohibited as well.

Items included in the restriction list below should fully comply with Chinese regulatory requirements:

  1. Obtain License for Quarantine of Entry Animals and Plants prior to entry

  2. Attach plant quarantine certificate issued by exporting countries/regions

Animal-origin products including meat, honey product, casing, dairy products, aquatic products, bird nest,

  1. Obtain inspection and quarantine access approval

  2. Obtain License for Quarantine of Entry Animals and Plants prior to entry

  3. Overseas manufacturers shall be listed into “overseas food manufacturer registration catalogue”

  4. Attach animal quarantine certificate or official hygienic certificate issued by exporting countries/regions

Infant formula

  1. Overseas manufacturers shall be listed into “overseas food manufacturer registration catalogue”

  2. Attach official hygienic certificate issued by exporting countries/regions

  3. The formula shall be granted CFDA registration approval

Prepackaged food

  1. Chinese label is required

  2. Health food shall be filed or registered

 

China International Import Expo (CIIE) is sponsored by China Ministry of Commerce and Shanghai municipal government and aims to facilitate trade liberalization and economic globalization. The 1st CIIE will be held in China during Nov. 5 to Nov.10, 2018.
