On July 8, 2021, China GAC released "Customs Clearance Notice" and "Facilitation Measures" for 2021 China International Import Expo (hereinafter referred to as "2021 CIIE"). Those requirements remain substantially unchanged comparing with 2020 CIIE (check ChemLinked news for the previous requirements).
Customs Clearance Notice
As in previous years, exhibition products such as animal & animal products, plant & plant products, special products, etc., need GAC quarantine approval before entering China. Exhibitors should apply for GAC approval in advance. Exhibition products should meet the requirements in the 2021 CIIE Inspection and Quarantine Restriction List and the 2021 CIIE Inspection and Quarantine Prohibition List. For exhibition products prepared to be tried, tasted or handed out in the Expo, exhibitors need corresponding certificates, e.g. official certificate from the participating country/region, third-party testing report, etc.
Facilitation Measures
Organizer of CIIE will continue to provide tax guarantee to reduce pressure for overseas exhibitors. For imported aquaculture products, dairy products, and cubilose sold in the exhibition area (whose manufacturers have not obtained GAC registration approval), Shanghai Customs will evaluate corresponding manufacturers, and overseas on-site inspection is not required. A temporary registration certificate will be issued after the enterprises pass the inspection. Besides, exhibition-only prepackaged food products at 2021 CIIE will be exempted from Chinese labels and sampling test.
2021 CIIE
CIIE has been held for three consecutive times since 2018, and 2021 CIIE is the fourth one, which will be held from Nov. 5 to 10, 2021. During the 2020 CIIE, despite the global market uncertainties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the intended turnover hit USD 72.6 billion, a 2.1 percent year-on-year increase. For the 2021 CIIE, various preparatory work is progressing steadily as planned. By the end of June, 2021, companies from various countries have actively registered for the exhibition, and the registered and contracted area has exceeded 360,000 square meters, achieving the anticipated goal.
2021 CIIE continues to set six major exhibition areas, including Trade in Services, Automobile, Intelligent Industry & Information Technology, Consumer Goods, Medical Equipment & Healthcare Products, and Food & Agricultural Products, with more new products, services and technologies to be displayed. In retrospect, many overseas exhibitors said they benefited a lot from the previous CIIEs and hoped to have greater reach and access to the Chinese market by this platform. As a former exhibitor remarks, "The 2021 CIIE is an ideal platform for strengthening economic and trade cooperation, boosting global trade and world economic growth. It will be a successful event for all participating enterprises." Check 2021 CIIE for more details.
