Chinese Baby Formula Importer Uses Forged Health Certificate

On April 17, 2014, AQSIQ issued a safety warning after confirming with Germany authorities that the health certificate of Baohexin International Trade (Wuhan) Co., Ltd. used to import “Hipp” baby formula (a famous German baby formula brand) was a forgery. It was also uncovered through an investigation conducted by Hubei Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau that the company also imports and sells products despite never having received an Entry Inspection and Quarantine certificate.

This company has been ordered to recall the “Hipp” baby formula imported from Hubei Port. This batch of Hipp baby formula has been sold in Shaanxi, Zhejiang, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghai, etc.

Hubei Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau have opened a full investigation into the business activities of this company. The AQSIQ has a public warning and asked the entry-exit inspection and quarantine offices of all provinces to halt customs inspection of all imported foods associated with this company.
