On Jan 17, 2024, the European Union (EU) amended Directive 2002/46/EC on the Approximation of the Laws of the Member States Relating to Food Supplements and approved the use of iron hydroxide adipate tartrate (nano) in the manufacture of food supplements. To be specific, this substance (novel food) is allowed as a source of iron in food supplements.
The amendment will come into effect on Feb 6, 2024. Details can be found in Commission Regulation (EU) 2024/248.
